National Education AssociationThe National Education Association was established in 1857. It is the nation’s largest employee organizations. They are also committed to advancing the cause of public education. No matter what the grade a person may be in, rather they are in pre-school or graduate school, they believe that everyone is entitled to a quality education. The National Education Association has affiliate organizations in every state in the, and in more than 14,000 local communities in the United States. The National Education Association has a very long and proud history of advocating for America’s children, and public schools. They also help encourage members of the Association. The mission of the Association is, “to elevate the character and advance the interests of the profession of teaching and to promote the cause of popular education in the United States.” This mission statement was made in 1857. The Association has remained committed to its original mission statement, and is indicated in the new mission statement. It is, “to fulfill the promise of a democratic society, the National Education Association shall promote the cause of quality public education and advance the profession of education; expand the rights and further the interest of educational employees; and advocate human, civil, and economic rights for all.” The National Education Association believes that every child in America, regardless of their family’s income, where they live, all deserve to have a complete education. Because of this, the 2.7 million members of the Association work together on helping to improve the quality of teaching, increasing student achievement, bullying prevention and making schools safer for students. When you have all of these factors, it will make it a better place to learn. This Association is a volunteer-based organization, and is supported be a host of staff at the local, state, and national level. At the local level alone, there are more than 14,000 local affiliate organizations active. These organizations range from raising funds for scholarship programs, to conducting professional workshops on issues that affect faculty members, and students. The National Education Association truly gives an abundance of evidence that their first and foremost concern is for the ones of the school system. Being an equal opportunity school by choice, the Association does great deeds for all. |
