Experimental Aircraft Association

The Experimental Aircraft Association’s first “Chapter” gathering was held in 1953 in Flabob Airport in Riverside, California. Ray Stits and close friends were homebuilding enthusiasts. As of today, there are about 1,000 active Experimental Aircraft Association and divisional Chapters and Squadrons all over the world carrying on the tradition of recreational aviation. These divisions and chapters are the backbone of the Experimental Aircraft Association Organization. The Association Chapter/Squadron is comprised of ten or more Experimental Aircraft Association members who live in the same area. It is still a growing Chapter, and will continue to promote recreational aviation activities at the local “grass roots” level.

Within the Chapter family, there are different types of Chapters. The Chapters include the Experimental Aircraft Association, International Chapters, Vintage Aircraft Associations Chapters, Ultra light Chapters, International Aerobatic Chapters, and Warbird of America Squadrons. In addition to these Chapters and Squadrons, there are still many other areas of special interests.

The Chapter activities can be ranged from airport open houses, to having an elaborate breakfast that share aviation with the community and help builder a stronger union between local aviation and the general public. This is a great resource for local knowledge and information that helps make recreational aviation fun, enjoyable, and attainable.

The Experimental Aircraft Association is a fast growing and diverse organization of members. All of the members have a wide variety of aviation interest, and personal backgrounds. This is what makes becoming a member of the Association so exciting. You are able to meet an abundance of people with different histories, or ones who share in the same interest of you. There are many aviation activities that can be done. The best part of becoming a member is that you do not have to know how to fly an airplane in order to join the Experimental Aircraft Association. The only requirement is that you have to love aviation.
