The cat fanciers association educates the public on cats

The Cat Fanciers Association was founded in 1906, and is a non-profit organization. The very first cat show that was licensed by the Cat Fanciers Association was held in Buffalo, New York, and in Detroit, Michigan. The first Annual Meeting was then held in 1907, at Madison Square Garden. A few years later, the Association began to publish cat journal magazines, and other articles that dealt with cats. The Cat Fanciers Association had grown steadily over the past few years. In 1907, the total receipts of the Association were $155.25, and in 2003, the receipts were over $2,300,000.

The Cat Fanciers Association truly started with a humble beginning. This season alone, an estimated 400 shows will be held worldwide. In these shows, the cats are judged by people who meet high qualification criteria to be able to judge felines. They have completed an extensive training program that qualifies them to evaluate cat shows by using the Cat Fanciers Association standards.

The central office of the Association is located in Manasquan, New Jersey. This office has grown from a “one person” operation, to a modern computerized office that now occupies over 10,000 square feet. Not only does the office have many duties, a branch of the Cat Fanciers Association, the Cat Fanciers Association Foundation is charged with helping to establish and maintain information about felines to the general public. This Foundation was established on June 22, 1990 by the Association’s Board of Directors. The Cat Fanciers Association Foundation makes it possible that one or more rooms of books, magazines, or other articles related to cats be made available to the public. The Foundation started with less than 100 cat books, but now that number has increased significantly. They also have places to display exhibitions of paintings and works or arts relating to cats. Their main goal is to educate the general public about the existence and history of the cat.

The Cat Fanciers Association is very special to many people. By helpful donations, they have been able to expand their work, and collection of cat collections. Everything pertaining to the Association has increased by the tenfold.
