Arizona Golf AssociationThe Arizona Golf Association has been around and serving golf in Arizona since the year 1923. The Arizona Golf Associations mission statement about golf is “ To foster the enhancement expansion of the game of golf by leading in the development of member and information services, the promotion of opportunities for all who want to play, and the protection of the game's integrity and valued traditions." The Association was founded at Phoenix Country Club primarily to run the Arizona State Amateur Golf championship. The Association is a volunteer-bases non-profit organization. The goals of the Golf Association is to help encourage voluntary association of golf clubs and course facilities for the purpose only to the betterment of golf, and to encourage good report with the other members of the Association. The Arizona Golf Association also wants to advance in having uniformed rules and standards that are consistent with the ones published by the USGA. These rules are in regards to the Amateur Status, Rules of Golf and Green Section Research, and also the Handicap System. They also want to establish and maintain uniformed and statewide handicap and course rating systems. Because of the uniformed way the Arizona Golf Association has ran its association, there are over 390 member clubs, and over 65,00 golfers that make the fame in Arizona so spectacular. The Association started as a small group of individuals who came together to run the State Amateur Championship, and has now evolved into a multi-faceted organization. Before, in order to be a part of the Arizona Golf Association, you had to join a club. But in 2002, they implemented a new standard that you do not have to join a club in order to be part of the Association. It is now possible to be a part of the Association through individual memberships. If you are headed to Arizona to play Golf make sure you have the best equipment possible to maximize your game.
